Jett Lawrence disfrutó de otra actuación impecable en el Thunder Valley National de Colorado, continuando con un comienzo hasta ahora impecable en su carrera de 450, ya que se clasificó como el más rápido y lideró todas las vueltas de las dos mangas. Fue un día de récord, ya que Lawrence superó la marca de cuatro victorias que estableció Jeff Ward en su debut como debutante en la categoría reina en 1985.

En la categoría de 250, Hunter Lawrence se hizo con su tercera victoria consecutiva, esta vez con un impresionante balance de 2-1 en las dos mangas, incluso mejor que el de sus dos participaciones en California. En la que era esencialmente su carrera de casa, Chance Hymas se sobrepuso a una desagradable caída de varios pilotos al comienzo de la primera manga y realizó la mejor actuación de su joven carrera profesional, logrando su primer podio en una manga y su primera clasificación general entre los cinco primeros.

Jett se hizo con el holeshot en la primera manga de 450 e inmediatamente se puso a los mandos de su CRF450RWE. Con una conducción suave y tranquila, fue aumentando la distancia con el segundo clasificado hasta imponerse por más de medio minuto. En la segunda carrera se repitió la misma tónica, aunque el margen de victoria en esta ocasión fue de "sólo" 12 segundos.

La primera carrera de 250 empezó con una salida en cadena que frenó a Hunter y puso a Hymas en el suelo, dejándoles 10º y último, respectivamente. Hunter se colocó sexto tras una vuelta, y procedió a adelantar a algunos de los pilotos punteros de la categoría, llegando a colocarse tercero en la sexta vuelta. Superar a Haiden Deegan le llevó algún tiempo, pero Hunter pudo hacerlo sin caerse. Para entonces, el líder estaba demasiado lejos como para alcanzarle. Mientras tanto, Hymas protagonizó una inspiradora remontada que le llevó a terminar justo fuera de los 10 primeros en una pista en la que era difícil adelantar.

En la segunda salida, los dos pilotos rojos empezaron mucho mejor, con la CRF250R de Hunter tercera en la línea de salida y la de Hymas sexta. Lawrence se colocó en cabeza al final de la primera vuelta, y con un pilotaje experto se impuso por casi cinco segundos. Cuarto tras la primera vuelta, Hymas adelantó a Jordon Smith cuatro vueltas más tarde y se mantuvo fuerte hasta el final para lograr el tercer puesto, el mejor resultado de su joven carrera.

Declaraciones

Jett Lawrence: "Mi moto sigue mejorando cada semana, a medida que me siento más y más cómodo sobre la 450. Es bueno saber que, si tengo que apretar, la moto me será de gran ayuda. He estado muy concentrado en las salidas, y en este circuito hay que asegurarse de no salirse del carril. La pista ha estado muy resbaladiza todo el día, así que salir pronto me ha permitido buscar diferentes trazadas sin preocuparme de perder demasiado tiempo con la gente que tenía delante".

Hunter Lawrence: "Fue una pista muy difícil en comparación con el año pasado, con toda esa humedad debajo. Estoy contento de haber podido mantener la moto en posición vertical y conseguir otra victoria. Obviamente, me encantaría un 1-1, pero mientras siga colocándome en buenas posiciones, seguirán sucediendo cosas buenas. Me hace mucha ilusión ir a High Point. Es una de mis pistas favoritas de la serie, y es la primera ronda de la Costa Este".
