El Hellas Rally ha supuesto la prueba perfecta para el equipo Ténéré World Raid, con unas condiciones y un terreno totalmente diferentes a los que han competido anteriormente en África. Las etapas en Grecia presentaban rutas mucho más técnicas, lentas y rocosas que las que se pueden encontrar en el desierto, condiciones que normalmente no favorecen los puntos fuertes de la Teneré 700 World Raid bicilíndrica equipada con GYTR.

El mal tiempo también jugó su papel, con lluvias torrenciales y fuertes vientos que aportaron un elemento extra a la mezcla; además, Tarrés tuvo que adaptar su estilo de navegación sobre la marcha debido a que los waypoints estaban mucho más cerca unos de otros.

Pol Tarrés asegura la victoria final en el Hellas Rally

Increíblemente, el equipo y Tarrés superaron estos retos y realizaron un esfuerzo impresionante durante toda la semana, redondeado por el sacrificio de Tarrés en la 6ª etapa. Empezando el día tercero en la clasificación general, con sólo 13 minutos separando a los cuatro primeros pilotos después de 1330 km de recorrido, todo estaba aún por decidir.

La 6ª etapa era un bucle corto de 120 km que empezaba y volvía al vivac de Karpenisi por Gardiki. Las fuertes lluvias caídas durante la noche y la mañana empeoraron las condiciones de barro y dieron ventaja a los rivales de Tarrés con sus 450cc, más ligeras y ágiles.

A pesar de ello, el piloto de 29 años, agotado físicamente por los esfuerzos de los días anteriores, sacó fuerzas de flaqueza para llegar hasta la línea de meta y terminar la etapa en sexta posición en la categoría Moto-Quad, con un tiempo de 1 hora, 55 minutos y 33,54 segundos. De este modo, Tarrés se adjudicó su cuarta etapa consecutiva en la categoría M6 (motos multicilíndricas de 650cc a 1300cc) y se aseguró la victoria en la general.

Agónicamente, Tarrés se quedó a un minuto y 30,04 segundos del podio general, terminando el rally cuarto en la clasificación final de la categoría Moto-Quad, con un tiempo combinado de 21 horas, 45 minutos y 8,22 segundos; en el proceso, también ganó la clase FIM European 6 y se aseguró el tercer puesto en la clasificación general FIM Europea.

El próximo reto para el equipo Ténéré World Raid es otro totalmente diferente, ya que se preparan para la TransAnatolia 2023 en Turquía, del 2 al 9 de septiembre, que comienza en el puerto del Mar Negro de Samsun, en la costa este, antes de atravesar todo el país hasta Izmir, en la costa oeste, y el Mar Egeo.

Pol Tarrés: "¡Lo hemos conseguido! Hoy ha sido un día muy duro, ya que ha llovido durante toda la noche y esta mañana, lo que ha embarrado increíblemente el recorrido. Me he esforzado mucho y lo he dado todo hasta la línea de meta, pero se me ha escapado el podio de la general. Es fantástico conseguir la victoria en M6, y subir al podio de la FIM es siempre una ventaja, sobre todo porque es mi primera experiencia en este tipo de rally. Ha sido una semana increíble, luchando con las motos monocilíndricas de 450cc en mi Ténéré 700 World Raid bicilíndrica y aprendiendo nuevas habilidades y técnicas. Sinceramente, las condiciones a las que nos hemos enfrentado esta semana, con la lluvia, el barro, las rocas y la naturaleza lenta y técnica de las especiales, tradicionalmente no juegan a favor de la Teneré, pero para eso hemos venido aquí, para sacarnos de nuestra zona de confort. Creo que podemos estar muy orgullosos de lo que hemos conseguido. Quiero dar las gracias a todo el equipo por el esfuerzo realizado, y ahora ya estamos centrados en la próxima carrera".
