El vigente campeón del mundo, Manuel Lettenbichler, demostró su clase en condiciones de lluvia para terminar el primer día de competición como líder en el Xross Hard Enduro Rally. Mario Román (Sherco Factory Racing) ha realizado una gran carrera en el barro y ha terminado segundo, mientras que Teodor Kabakchiev (ECONT Bulgaria) ha completado los tres primeros puestos.

Tras la emoción del Prólogo de ayer en Zlatibor, Serbia, la prueba inaugural del Campeonato del Mundo FIM de Hard Enduro se puso manos a la obra en el Xross Hard Enduro Rally, con los pilotos afrontando una jornada de 100 kilómetros de carrera. Las condiciones meteorológicas de lluvia y humedad estuvieron a la orden del día. Sin ningún lugar donde esconderse del barro, fue un día duro para los mejores pilotos de Hard Enduro del mundo.

Lettenbichler lidera la primera jornada

Tras su victoria en el prólogo de ayer, Billy Bolt (Husqvarna Factory Racing) se mostró rápido desde el principio y encabezó el primer sector cronometrado. No fue por mucho, ya que Manuel Lettenbichler (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) se situó segundo a sólo dos segundos. Lettenbichler se hizo con el liderato de la carrera con el mejor tiempo en el segundo sector cronometrado.

Aumentando esa ventaja en casi dos minutos en el tercer sector cronometrado, Lettenbichler estaba claramente en su elemento. En el quinto punto de control, el sector más largo de la jornada, el piloto de KTM superó la marca de una hora y se distanció de sus rivales. Al final, se ha impuesto con casi 13 minutos de ventaja.

Román se coloca segundo

Por detrás de Lettenbichler, todo cambió tras el séptimo sector cronometrado. Un error de navegación de Bolt le ha dejado fuera de la lucha por la segunda plaza y ha abierto la puerta a Mario Román (Sherco Factory Racing). Sin cometer errores durante el resto de la jornada, Román se vio recompensado con el segundo lugar.

La batalla por el tercer puesto estuvo muy reñida entre Teodor Kabakchiev (ECONT Bulgaria), Michael Walkner (GASGAS) y Graham Jarvis (Jarvis Magpul Racing). Al final, Kabakchiev superó a Walkner por sólo 30 segundos tras más de cuatro horas de carrera cronometrada y se hizo con el tercer puesto. Walkner tuvo que conformarse con el cuarto puesto en la primera jornada offroad, y Jarvis completó el top cinco.

Brightmore, el mejor de los Juniors en la primera jornada

Mitch Brightmore (GASGAS), del TTR Squadra Corse, ha sido el mejor de los pilotos del Campeonato del Mundo FIM Junior de Hard Enduro. El británico ha finalizado 10º en la general y cuenta con casi 10 minutos de ventaja sobre Matthew Green (Rigo Racing). El español Marc Fernández (KTM) es tercero en la general.

Manuel Lettenbichler (KTM): "He hecho un día sólido, aunque me ha costado rodar con comodidad por los cauces de los ríos. A veces me resbalaba. Después de las secciones técnicas, ha estado bien tener una sección de grava a todo gas para cerrar el día".

Mario Román (Sherco): "Ha sido un día realmente bueno a pesar de las condiciones de humedad y barro. He sentido que mi ritmo era fuerte y me estaba divirtiendo mucho en el terreno resbaladizo. Por supuesto, aún queda mucho camino por recorrer, pero seguiré empujando".

Michael Walkner (GASGAS): "Después del punto de servicio, he roto el freno trasero y eso ha dificultado la conducción. He tenido que ir con mucho cuidado en las bajadas y he perdido parte del tiempo que había ganado por la mañana. A pesar de eso, estoy contento. ¡Lucharé de nuevo mañana!".
