El equipo Ténéré World Raid Team inició su segundo año de forma soberbia en el Morocco Desert Challenge (MDC). Tarrés y el australiano Rodney Faggotter consiguieron un doblete para Yamaha en la categoría Big Bike (600cc o superior) tras terminar tercero y cuarto en la general, respectivamente. Un resultado aún más notable si se tiene en cuenta que se trataba del tercer rally competitivo de Tarrés en su incipiente carrera.

La escuadra francesa, dirigida por Marc Bourgeois y su empresa MBSM en nombre de Yamaha, llega a su segundo evento de 2023 con el objetivo de continuar con este éxito en Grecia, ya que, una vez más, Tarrés competirá con la Teneré 700 World Raid equipada con GYTR, que para 2023 cuenta con una decoración especial para celebrar el 40 aniversario de la versión original de la icónica moto basada en el color con el que Stephane Peterhansel corrió hasta la victoria en el Dakar 1993.

Tal y como estaba previsto para las dos próximas pruebas, el equipo se centrará en competir con uno solo de sus pilotos oficiales. Esto significa que Tarrés correrá en Grecia antes de pasar el testigo a su compañero habitual, el italiano Alessandro Botturi - que fue sustituido por Faggotter en el MDC debido a un conflicto de agenda - para el Rally TransAnatolia del 2 al 9 de septiembre en Turquía.

Tarrés, que compite en la categoría general de Rally y en la clase M6 (motos multicilíndricas de 650cc a 1300cc), estará acompañado en Grecia por nueve clientes de la Ténéré Spirit Experience (TSE). La TSE es un nuevo proyecto de Yamaha para 2023, que ofrece a los propietarios de una Teneré la oportunidad de vivir y respirar el estilo de vida del rally raid junto al equipo oficial.

En el Hellas Rally, los clientes TSE participarán en la categoría Tour, en la que recorrerán tramos de cada etapa siguiendo una ruta paralela a la clase Rally, pero sin el estrés de competir contra el reloj. Esto les da la oportunidad de experimentar la aventura de su vida, con todo el apoyo del equipo Ténéré World Raid, pero sin ninguna presión, lo que les permite alimentar su deseo de participar en un rally competitivo en el futuro.

La edición 2023 del Hellas Rally arranca el 22 de mayo con un prólogo de 30 km que decidirá el orden de salida para el segundo día antes de recorrer 1.700 km en las siguientes seis etapas antes de la llegada el día 28. La carrera tiene un formato diferente al de otras pruebas de rally raid, ya que la mayoría de los días presentan etapas en bucle que empiezan y terminan en un campamento central situado en Karpenisi. La excepción es la "Etapa Maratón" de los días cuatro y cinco, en la que los competidores acamparán fuera del vivac de Limni Plastira durante una noche con asistencia limitada del equipo.

Pol Tarrés: "Me siento confiado después de este fantástico resultado en el Morocco Desert Challenge. Acabar en el podio en mi tercer rally ha sido muy especial. He podido descansar bien, ya que la carrera terminó hace solo tres semanas, así que me siento fresco y preparado para Grecia. Nunca he corrido en el Hellas Rally, así que no sé qué esperar, pero sabemos que será un reto, ya que el terreno tendrá más pistas rocosas y etapas más lentas y técnicas que en el desierto. Como siempre, daremos el 100% y trataremos de adquirir la mayor experiencia posible. Estoy ansioso por empezar la carrera".
