La BMW R 1250 RT recibió en 2019 el nuevo motor boxer con distribución variable que mejoraban los consumos y rendimiento de uno de los mejores propulsores pensados para el turismo. Frente a las grandes motos turísticas de BMW con motores de seis cilindros, el tradicional boxer ofrece tambíen grandes satisfacciones a los grandes ruteros con una moto con una enorme capadidad de carga y un nivel de confort extraordinario. Una de las mejores motos de turismo que ha cautivado a legiones de motoristas. La edición 2021 ha ido un paso más allá con una estética completamente renovada y la incorporación de algunos elementos que antes eran opcionales, a la serie. Entre ellos destaca el control dinámico de tracción (DTC), sistema de frenada ABS Pro con asistencia en curva y optimizacíon del ángulo de giro. Eso sí, siguen quedando como opciones los modos de conducción Pro o el sistema de iluminación LED adaptativo.
