La Honda CBR 1000 RR R Fireblade SP se presentó una motocicleta totalmente nueva en 2020, construida con un firme enfoque al pilotaje en circuito. El desarrollo del modelo 2022, manteniendo la potencia máxima de 160kW @ 14.500rpm de su motor cuatro en línea, se ha centrado en la aceleración y la tracción a mitad de curva.

La tobera de admisión, el airbox, las tomas del airbox y la sección media del escape han sido revisados para reforzar el medio régimen. La corona de transmisión final gana 3 dientes, hasta 43, para una aceleración más enérgica en todas las relaciones del cambio, y se ha mejorado el rendimiento del quick shifter. El Control de Par Seleccionable Honda (HSTC) también ha sido optimizado – siguiendo indicaciones de los pilotos de HRC – para un control de la tracción a la rueda trasera más preciso, y el tacto del acelerador se ha mejorado aún más.

El resto de la parte ciclo – compuesta por un bastidor de aluminio tipo montura de diamante, basculante estilo RC213V-S, Unidad de Medición Inercial (IMU) de 6 ejes, Amortiguador de Dirección Electrónico Honda (HESD) de 3 niveles – no ha cambiado. La suspensión completa, con especificaciones de competición, es suministrada por Öhlins y dispone de Control Electrónico Inteligente Smart Electronic Control (S-EC) e interfaz de usuario OBTi, y los frenos delanteros y traseros son Brembo.

La carrocería y la posición de conducción están enfocadas, sin compromisos, al rendimiento aerodinámico y el carenado incorpora alerones derivados de MotoGP para generar fuerza hacia abajo. Una pantalla TFT a todo color ofrece un control intuitivo de los modos de conducción, del ajuste de la Potencia, Freno Motor, HSTC, control de Wheelie, Modo de Salida y modos del ABS. Una llave de proximidad Smart Key añade el toque final.
